What Are You Releasing?
We’re at that time in our lives when we move past the tasks of our 30’s and 40’s and transition to our older years. Many of the things that previously defined us are falling away. It’s a time of releasing. What are you releasing? Could it be:
- Your idea of what you’ll be when you grow up
- The assumption you will live a lot longer, that you have plenty of time
- The need to please
- Your children
- Your parents
- Your illusion of your partner as your “soul mate”
- The belief that one person can’t make a difference
- The desire to be nice
- The pursuit of thin
- Your sexual inhibitions
- Your orgasms
- The imaginary shackles that keep your heart from opening
- Your career
- Your health
- Your hair color
- Anger about your childhood
- The nagging voice murmuring you’re not good enough
- The belief that you’re not creative
- The belief that you have nothing to say
What are your interior voices saying? Are you listening? Are you journaling, reflecting on where you’ve been, where you are now, what lies ahead?
Releasing Times is a gathering place for our words, an opportunity to speak about our lives. What is your experience of this transition time of your 50’s or 60’s? What goes on in your heart and mind that you don’t necessarily show the outside world?
Releasing Times wants your words. Please submit your writing—long pieces, brief comments, or anything in between. Or just drop us a line and let us know what you’re releasing these days. What do you think about a magazine specifically for women in their 50’s and 60’s? What do you remember from your childhood that young people today have never experienced?
